I love Pottery!

Pottery is one thing I have collected for over 10 years or so. I go through phases on other things I collect but anytime I go junking/antiquing I always look for vases, planters, flowerpots etc. I am just going to post a few photos of my pottery collection. I collect mostly McCoy but I also have Shawnee and Weller items. I usually look for the color (pastel colors most of the time) but design is also a factor. Even if it's a color I love but the design is just something that won't fit in with the rest of my collection I will pass on it.

In the photo above, the aqua vase is the very first piece I ever bought. It quickly grew from there!

I admit it...I am a knick-knack junkie!!

Ok, I think I have a slight obsession with knick-knacks! I recently bought a reference or collectors guide to Napco brand nifty little figurines, planters, vases and kitchen items. I already had a couple pieces and I wanted to know more about the brand and other items they made so I found the book and now my collection it quickly growing! I do not limit myself to just Napco items. I have lots of Lefton, Josef, Holt Howard, Norcrest and Relpo items too. Thought I'd post a few photos of some of my items I have collected so far and also since it's very close to Valentine's Day, post pics of the few decorations I have.

First off is my Napco Nursey Rhyme Figurines! I have 2 more to find!

This is a little Napco Pixie of the month (December)

Lefton month of June birthday Angel

My little Curio Cabinet (I recently re-arranged it again!)

Christmas angels (do not know maker but made in Japan)
Napco Christmas planter

Napco Christmas shopping angel

Now, here is my Valentine's Day decor. It's all on the top of my little curio cabinet!

That is all for now! I still plan on chatting about all the great little antique stores around where I live but it has been raining so much lately and I am waiting for sunny days to take photos!
I will be soon!! Thanks to all of you who follow me and post comments! Have a great week!

Happy 2010!!

2010 is here! I can't believe it! Last year was good to me and I am determined to make this year even better. I hope to update my blog a bit more this year instead of every couple months! I am going to try to blog more about my favorite thing... antiquing/treasure hunting! There are so many great antique stores around the area where I live. Off the top of my head I can think of about 13 or 14 stores within a 20-30 minute drive. So many stores/dealers around that there is never any good junk at the thrift stores! They get to it first (my mother in law included)! :)

One thing that has occupied my time the past few weeks is my sweet dog Jackson. Sadly he had to be put to sleep at the beginning of December. He would have been 8 years old this coming April. He had cancer and he was rapidly declining in health. I really cannot make myself discuss all the details because it is still very hard to deal with but I love him and miss him so much. I know it will take time. I still miss my dog I had when I was a child. It is very much like losing a actual person, you think about them often and they are always with you. I am sure that we will adopt another dog in the future. It will be a while though. I don't want to rush into getting a new furry buddy just yet.

Love you and miss you Jack!!

Ta-ta for now!

Sunday ramblings.....

Hello! It is a lovely, sunny Sunday morning/early afternoon where I live. It is inspiring! Especially since for the past week or so we have had nothing but flooding around the area! I've been doing some much needed house cleaning/laundry etc.

Anyhow, I am so excited because in about 2 weeks I will be working full time from my home office. YAY! The company I work for has started to offer working at home for those who qualify and luckily I was one of several people picked. My husband worked at home for about 2 years and toward the end of the 2 years, he really began to hate it. He felt like he needed a job with some interaction with people. Luckily he found that job and he is much happier. I thought I'd give it a try since we already have a home office and it was not being used. If it turns out that I don't like it then I can always go back to the office and sit at my cube, which is not bad by the way. :) I am just thankful that I have a very steady job and I am able to work everyday. I know there are many people out there who do not have as such. Not to get too depressing....here is a shot of my at home desk.... soon it will have a 2 lovely monitors and all the other computer accessories!

Got a few accessories of my own to add to my desktop! :) couple of vintage paint by numbers, handmade matryoshka, vintage typewriter and my trusty squirrely family coaster!

No more fighting traffic, dressing "business casual", etc...I could really go on and on.

Here's a look outside my desk window... that will be nice too. I can look out and see the various birds, squirrels and my favorite little chipmunk that hangs out on the curb on my driveway! I love it!!

Now how about a photo of a couple of my lovely Lefton pieces. These 3 are my absolute fave I own. I only have a couple other items but I just love the little flowers on these. Sooo delicate!!

They are grouped together on my nightstand.

Ok, I guess that will do for today. I am off to continue my cleaning/laundry! I saw in the Sunday sale ads this morning that Swiffer has new dusters that are pink for breast cancer awareness... I love my swiffer products and maybe it's time for new one since they are pink and it goes to a GREAT cause! Have a lovely week!!
